Helen Scalia
Helen is a consultant to community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and other mission-driven organizations. She helps them design programs, tell their stories, raise money, make informed decisions, and plan for the future. Helen has worked with and for CDFIs for 30 years, beginning with the Lower East Side Peoples Federal Credit Union in New York City. Prior to starting her consulting practice, Helen was a small business loan officer and program manager with Coastal Enterprises, Inc. in Maine and a program director for Rural LISC, a national nonprofit. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in marketing from New York University, and has a certificate in organization development from the NTL Institute.
In her spare time, Helen enjoys knitting, learning Italian, and exploring the nooks and crannies of Maine with her family. Serving on the BTS Center’s Board of Trustees enables her to contribute to constructive and civil conversations, which are needed now more than ever.
