Kiran Oommen
Kiran Oommen is a queer mixed Indian American organizer and musician based in the Pacific Northwest. They have a BA in Sociology, and are on the Board of Directors for the Civil Liberties Defense Center and the Breach Collective, social and environmental justice nonprofits. Kiran is also one of the 21 plaintiffs on the Juliana vs. US federal climate lawsuit. They have been involved in various direct action movements, focusing mostly on climate and racial justice, and co-founded a DIY music venue in Seattle to promote social justice through art. Kiran plays in punk and folk groups Pickax and Foraging, and gave a TEDx talk in 2019 on the intersection between art and activism. To make ends meet, Kiran works as a gardener-for-hire and barista.
