Rev. Sharon McCormick earned her M.S. degree from Indiana University in guidance counseling. Serving as Vice President of the legacy Rocky Mt. Conference UMW led her to ministry. She graduated with an M.Div from Iliff School of Theology in 1986 and was ordained a United Methodist clergy in 1988. She is a graduate of the Two-Year Academy for Spiritual Formation. After retiring in 2002, she received a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Hesychia School for Spiritual Directors. Her professional career has included: teaching English and Social Studies in public schools, executive director of Denver Urban Ministries (7 years) and serving as a pastor at Edgewater UMC and St. Andrew UMC. She and her husband, Tom, live near Golden, CO and are the parents of three daughters, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She has facilitated women’s spiritual retreats and women spiritual classes. Because of her deep concern about the existential threat of climate change, she has chosen to focus her life work on the area of creation justice and eco-spirituality Her interests include leaving a legacy through memoir writing, reading fiction, deep water aerobics at the YMCA, observing and learning from nature, and participating in several support and educational groups. At Arvada UMC she an active member of the Creation Care Team. She offers individual spiritual direction in her home office and on Zoom and participates in a monthly Zoom Ec-Spiritual Support group.
