Marissa Salgado has a background in faith based community development, spending the last decade living and working alongside refugee and migrant communities and building bridges between the church and marginalized groups for the sake of holistic, mutual care and reconciliation. Marissa serves as the Church Engagement Manager for Creation Justice Ministries, walking with church communities as they actively seek to incorporate creation justice into the rhythms and consciousness of their congregational life. Previously she has worked for Casa Chirilagua, an incarnational ministry in Alexandria, VA and Point Loma Nazarene University’s Center for Justice and Reconciliation. She specializes in program design, justice-rooted leadership development, and equipping communities for transformative ministry. She earned her BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University and is currently pursuing an MDiv through Fuller Seminary’s Centro Latino. Marissa lives in San Diego where she enjoys swimming in the ocean, hiking, and reading with a good cup of coffee. She and her husband Jon are members of a vibrant church whose congregation is primarily refugees and asylum seekers from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where together they pursue a beloved, reconciled community in daily life.
