Missy is a Pittsburgh-born, West Virginia-raised, Baltimore transplant. Her foundation is in higher education administration and residential life with a coursework and portfolio that includes writing and composition, curriculum and instruction, and arts integration. During the pandemic, she worked with organizations and spiritual communities to discuss racial justice, equity, and reparations through storytelling based training and professional development. She has found a joyful path as a creative storyteller and interdisciplinary artist.
Missy holds an MA in Liberal Studies from Loyola University of Maryland and a MA in Instructional Systems Development from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is a member of an Eco-Preacher cohort with Creation Justice Ministries, a group of over 100 faith leaders learning how to read scripture with a lens of Climate Change to apply those teachings to sermons and missions. She is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Missional Leadership at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and will discern and sharpen her approaches to storytelling, justice, and fellowship with communities of all ages.
